Nutation
La nutation est un mouvement de bascule, de balancement ou de nodding dans l'axe de rotation d'un objet largement symétrique axialement, tel qu'un gyroscope, une planète ou une balle en vol, ou comme un comportement prévu d'un mécanisme. Dans un cadre de référence approprié, il peut être défini comme une modification du deuxième angle d'Euler. Si elle n'est pas causée par des forces extérieures au corps, elle s'appelle nutation gratuite ou nutation Euler. Une nutation pure est un mouvement d'un axe de rotation tel que le premier angle Euler est constant. Dans la dynamique des engins spatiaux, la précession est parfois appelée nutation.
