Stabat Mater
Stabat Mater Dolorosa, souvent désigné sous le nom de Stabat Mater, est un hymne catholique du XIIIe siècle à Marie, attribué différemment au franciscan Jacopone da Todi et à Innocent III. Il s'agit des douleurs de Marie. Le titre de l'hymne douloureux est un incipit de la première ligne, Stabat mater dolorosa. L'hymne de Stabat Mater, l'un des puissants poèmes médiévaux les plus puissants et les plus immédiats, médite sur la souffrance de Marie, la mère de Jésus-Christ, lors de sa crucifixion. Il est chanté à la liturgie sur le mémorial de Notre-Dame des Douleurs. Le Stabat Mater a été mis en musique par de nombreux compositeurs, dont les paramètres les plus célèbres sont ceux de Palestrina, Pergolesi, Alessandro Scarlatti et Domenico Scarlatti, Vivaldi, Haydn, Rossini, Poulenc et Dvořák. Le Stabat Mater était bien connu à la fin du 14ème siècle et Georgius Stella a écrit son utilisation en 1388, tandis que d'autres historiens notent son utilisation plus tard dans le même siècle. En Provence, vers 1399, il a été utilisé pendant les processions de neuf jours.
