Cabotage / kæbətɨdʒ / tradicionalmente refere-se ao transporte marítimo nas rotas costeiras, porto a porto. Agora, a palavra é usada para se referir ao transporte de mercadorias ou passageiros entre dois pontos no mesmo país por um navio ou aeronave registrada em outro país. Originalmente um termo de transporte, a cabotagem também abrange a aviação, ferrovias e transporte rodoviário. Cabotagem é "comércio ou navegação nas águas costeiras, ou, o direito exclusivo de um país para operar o tráfego aéreo no seu território". O cabotagem é utilizado no contexto dos "direitos de cabotagem", o direito de uma empresa de um país para trocar em outro país. Em termos de aviação, é o direito de operar dentro das fronteiras domésticas de outro país. A maioria dos países não permite a cabotagem da aviação, por razões de protecionismo econômico, segurança nacional ou segurança pública.
