O verniz é um revestimento transparente, duro, protetor ou filme usado principalmente em acabamento de madeira, mas também para outros materiais. O verniz é tradicionalmente uma combinação de um óleo de secagem, uma resina e um diluente ou solvente. Os acabamentos de verniz geralmente são brilhantes, mas podem ser projetados para produzir brilhos de cetim ou semi-brilho pela adição de agentes "achatados".
