Împământarea navelor este un tip de accident maritim care implică impactul unei nave pe fundul mării sau pe căile navigabile. [1] Poate duce la deteriorarea părții scufundate a corpului navei și, în special, a structurii de fund, care poate duce la intrarea apei, ceea ce poate compromite integritatea structurală, stabilitatea și, în final, siguranța navei. [2] [3] Încărcarea gravă exercită sarcini extreme asupra structurilor navei [4]. În cazul accidentelor mai puțin grave, ar putea rezulta doar deteriorarea corpului; cu toate acestea, în cazul celor mai grave accidente, ar putea duce la încălcări ale corpului, deversări de încărcături, pierderi totale ale navei și, în cele mai grave cazuri, accidente umane [5]. Din perspectivă globală, pământul reprezintă aproximativ o treime din accidentele comerciale din întreaga lume [6] [7] și are clasa a doua în frecvență, după coliziunea navă-navă [8]. Împământarea, în funcție de manevrele comandantului înainte de impact, poate duce la corupția navei. În funcție de natura scufundării fundului mării în locație, și anume că este noroios sau stâncos, trebuie luate măsuri diferite pentru eliberarea navei și transportul acesteia către un port sigur.

Ship grounding is a type of marine accident that involves the impact of a ship on seabed or waterway side.[1] It may result in the damage of the submerged part of the ship’s hull and in particular the bottom structure, potentially leading to water ingress, which may compromise the ship's structural integrity, stability and finally safety.[2][3] Severe grounding applies extreme loads onto ship structures.[4] In less severe accidents, it might result only in damage to the hull; however, in most serious accidents, it might lead to hull breaches, cargo spills, total loss of the vessel, and, in the worst cases, human casualties.[5] From a global perspective, grounding accounts for about one-third of commercial ship accidents all over the world[6][7] and it has the second rank in frequency, after ship–on–ship collision.[8] Grounding, depending on the maneuvers of the master before the impact, may result in the ship being stranded. Depending on the nature of the relief of the seabed at the location, i.e., being muddy or rocky, different measures have to be taken to release the ship and transport it to a safe harbor.
