A falsifica înseamnă a imita ceva. Produsele contrafăcute sunt replici false ale produsului real. Produsele contrafăcute sunt adesea produse cu intenția de a profita de valoarea superioară a produsului imitat. Cuvântul "contrafăcut" descrie frecvent atât falsurile valutei și documentele, cât și imitațiile de îmbrăcăminte, genți de mână, pantofi, produse farmaceutice, piese de aviație și automobile, ceasuri, electronice, software, opere de artă, jucării și filme. Produsele contrafăcute tind să aibă logo-uri și mărci false ale companiei. În cazul mărfurilor, rezultă încălcarea brevetului sau încălcarea mărcii comerciale. Produsele de consum contrafăcute au o reputație de calitate inferioară și pot include chiar elemente toxice. Acest lucru a dus la moartea a sute de mii de oameni, din cauza accidentelor de automobile și aviație, otrăviri, încetează să mai ia compuși esențiali.
