Fanatismul este o credință sau un comportament care implică zel necritic sau cu un entuziasm obsesiv pentru o distracție sau un hobby. Filosoful George Santayana definește fanatismul drept "împăcarea efortului tău când ți-ai uitat scopul"; în conformitate cu Winston Churchill, "Un fan este cel care nu-și poate schimba mintea și nu va schimba subiectul". Prin descriere, fanatismul afișează standarde foarte stricte și puțin toleranță față de ideile sau opiniile contrare.
