O jandarmerie sau o jandarmerie este, în principiu, o forță militară însărcinată cu atribuții de poliție în rândul populațiilor civile. Membrii unei astfel de forțe sunt de obicei numiți "jandarmi". Aceste unități sunt, de asemenea, asociate cu alte descrieri, cum ar fi maréchaussée sau Guard or Constabulary.
