Leipzig (/ laɪptsɪɡ /; pronunția germană: (listen)) este un oraș în statul federal Saxonia, Germania. Are aproximativ 530.000 de locuitori și este inima regiunii metropolitane germane centrale. Leipzig se află la aproximativ 150 de kilometri sud de Berlin, la confluența râurilor White Elster, Pleisse și Parthe, la capătul sudic al Câmpiei Nordului. Leipzig a fost un oraș comercial, deoarece, cel puțin în timpul Sfântului Imperiu Roman, așezat la intersecția Via Regia și Via Imperii, două importante căi comerciale medievale.
