Bucuria este un atribut posibil al naturii și comportamentului uman. Acesta a fost definit în câteva moduri: ▪ neprihănit, umil, învățabil și răbdător; dispuși să urmeze învățăturile Evangheliei; un atribut al unui adevărat discipol. ▪ Apostolul creștin Pavel a dat un exemplu de comportament blând atunci când ia scris lui Timotei: "Slujitorul Domnului trebuie să fie blând, capabil să învețe, răbdătoare, cu blândețe să-i instruiească pe cei care se opun". ▪ Un comportament blând este prezentat ca fiind opus "omului natural": "Lăsați omul natural să devină blând". ▪ Sir Thomas Browne a explicat: "Zgomotul ia leziuni cum ar fi pastile, nu mesteca, dar le înghiți". Aceasta indică faptul că blândețea permite unei persoane să treacă cu vederea sau să ierte insulte sau infracțiuni percepute. ▪ "O dispoziție de a fi răbdător și îndelung răbdător". ▪ Puterea sub control - echivalentă în mod obișnuit cu umilința.
