Menestrel
Un minstrel a fost un bard european medieval care a interpretat melodii ale căror versuri au povestit povestiri despre locuri îndepărtate sau despre evenimente istorice existente sau imaginare. Deși minstretele și-au creat propriile povești, de multe ori ei ar aminti și vor înfrumuseța lucrările altora. Frecvent au fost reținute de redevențe și de o societate înaltă. Pe măsură ce instanțele au devenit mai sofisticate, minstretele au fost în cele din urmă înlocuite la tribunal de către troubadouri, iar mulți au devenit minstrele rătăcitoare, care au jucat pe străzi și au devenit foarte plăcute până la mijlocul Renașterii, deși declinul popularității lor a început la sfârșitul secolului al XV-lea .
