Operă
Opera este o formă de artă în care cântăreții și muzicienii efectuează o lucrare dramatică care combină text și scor muzical, de obicei într-un cadru teatral. Opera încorporează multe elemente ale teatrului vorbit, cum ar fi actoria, peisajul și costumele și uneori și dansul. Spectacolul este dat de obicei într-o operă, însoțită de o orchestră sau un ansamblu muzical mai mic. Opera face parte din tradiția muzicii clasice occidentale. A început în Italia la sfârșitul secolului al XVI-lea și sa răspândit rapid în restul Europei: Schütz în Germania, Lully în Franța și Purcell în Anglia au contribuit la stabilirea tradițiilor naționale în secolul al XVII-lea.
