Teroare
Teroarea este de la terreurul francez, de la terorismul latin care inseamna "mare frica", un substantiv derivat din verbul latin terrere care inseamna "a sperie", este o politica de represiune politica si violenta menita sa supuna opozitiei politice. Termenul a fost folosit pentru prima dată pentru Regina terorii impusă de Jacobini în timpul Revoluției Franceze. Cazurile moderne de teroare includ teroarea roșie sau teroarea albă. Înainte de apariția terorismului modern, termenul "terorism" în limba engleză a fost uneori folosit interschimbabil cu teroarea. Definirea modernă a terorismului se referă la acte de violență criminale sau ilegale la ținte alese aleatoriu, într-un efort de a ridica teama. Este practicat de grupuri extremiste cu o bază politică limitată sau partide pe partea mai slabă în războiul asimetric.
