Tonerul este o pulbere utilizată în imprimante laser și fotocopiatoare pentru a forma textul și imaginile imprimate pe hârtie. În forma sa timpurie a fost un amestec de pulbere de carbon, oxid de fier și zahăr. Apoi, pentru a îmbunătăți calitatea imprimării, carbonul a fost amestecat topit cu un polimer.
