Occidentalizarea sau occidentalizarea, de asemenea, occidentalizarea sau occidentalizarea, este un proces prin care societățile vin sau adoptă cultura occidentală în domenii precum industria, tehnologia, legislația, politica, economia, stilul de viață, dieta, îmbrăcămintea, limbajul, alfabetul, religia, filozofia și valorile . Westernization a fost o influență omniprezentă și accelerantă în întreaga lume în ultimele câteva secole, unde unii gânditori au presupus că occidentalizarea este echivalentul modernizării, un mod de gândire deseori dezbătut. Procesul general al occidentalizării este adesea bidirecțional în faptul că influențele și interesele occidentale se îmbină cu părți ale societății afectate, la minim, pentru a se schimba spre o societate mai occidentalizată, în speranța de a atinge viața occidentală sau anumite aspecte ale acesteia. Pentru a presupune însă că societățile occidentale nu sunt afectate sau modificate de acest proces, iar interacțiunea cu grupurile non-occidentale este înșelătoare. Westernizarea poate fi legată și de aculturație și de enculturare. Acculturarea este "procesul de schimbare culturală și psihologică care are loc ca urmare a contactului între grupurile culturale și membrii lor individuali.
