WHAT DOES HYALOPLASMA MEAN IN GERMAN?
cytosol
The liquid components of the cytoplasm of the eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells are referred to as cytosol, also called cytosol. The cytosol is about 70% water, as well as the ions dissolved therein, small molecules and larger water-soluble molecules, such as proteins. The protein content of the cytosol is 20-30%. Depending on the cell type, 25-50% of the total amount of protein in the cytosol is present. In the cytosol, part of the protein biosynthesis, the translation takes place. There are also glycolysis, many steps of protein degradation and many reactions of the metabolism of the cell. These include, for example, synthesis and degradation of nucleotides or amino acids. The cytosol is traversed in eukaryotes by a network of filiform structures such as actin filaments, intermediate filaments or microtubules, which in their entirety form the cell skeleton. In prokaryotes the DNA is free in the cytosol since they do not exhibit compartmentation.
