In xanthelasms (from Greek ξανθός (xanthos) = yellow and τὸ ἔλασμα (elasma) = the plate) are yellow or red, sharply delineated deposits of fat or fat-like substances (cholesterol) in the skin. Frequently the xanthelasms appearing on both sides of the face are found above the eyes on the nasal side of the eyelids (Xanthelasma palpebrarum).

Bei Xanthelasmen (aus griechisch ξανθός (xanthos) = gelb und τὸ ἔλασμα (elasma) = die Platte) handelt es sich um gelbe oder rote, scharf begrenzte Einlagerungen von Fett oder fettartigen Substanzen (Cholesterin) in der Haut. Häufig findet man die meist auf beiden Gesichtshälften auftretenden Xanthelasmen oberhalb der Augen an der nasalen Seite der Augenlider (Xanthelasma palpebrarum).
