Grandfather
Grandparents is the nickname with which the children designate the father and mother of their parents, respectively being called grandfather and grandmother. Grandparents are an important part of the extended family. In traditional cultures, grandparents have had a clear role in caring for children. This has tended to disappear in the development of the nuclear family. The most familiar treatment makes the word "Grandfather" or "Grandmother" replaced by more affectionate and close terms such as Papapa, Yayo, Tata, Abu, Abue, Nono, Neno, Papito, Zeide, Puzo, Papa, among others. Grandma and Mamama, Yaya, Nana, Nona, Abue, Güeli, Abu, Nena, Bobe, Licha, Puza, Tita, Mamita, Mimi, Mom, among others for the grandmothers. In cases where parents can not provide adequate care for their children, grandparents can have the role of maintainers or tutors, so since 1998 the NGO Mensajeros de la Paz celebrates every July 26, Grandfather's Day. In Spain there are Monuments to the Grandparents, like the one that has been placed in the garden of the old Convent of the Nuns of Ribaroja.
