En las comunicaciones y el procesamiento de la información, el código es un sistema de reglas para convertir la información -como una letra, una palabra, un sonido, una imagen o un gesto- en otra forma, a veces abreviada o secreta, para la comunicación a través de un canal o almacenamiento en un medio .
