Seppuku es una forma de suicidio ritual japonés por desenterrar. Seppuku fue reservado originalmente solamente para el samurai. Parte del código de honor samurai bushido, seppuku fue utilizado voluntariamente por los samurai para morir con honor en lugar de caer en manos de sus enemigos, o como una forma de castigo capital para los samurai que habían cometido ofensas graves, o realizado por otras razones que Les había traído vergüenza.
