Cabotaj
Cabotage / kæbətɨdʒ / se referă în mod tradițional la transportul maritim de-a lungul rutelor de coastă, de la port la port. Acum, cuvântul este folosit adesea pentru a se referi la transportul mărfurilor sau pasagerilor între două puncte din aceeași țară de către o navă sau o aeronavă înmatriculată într-o altă țară. Inițial, termenul de expediere, cabotajul acoperă și acum aviația, căile ferate și transportul rutier. Cabotajul este "comerțul sau navigația în apele de coastă sau dreptul exclusiv al unei țări de a opera traficul aerian pe teritoriul său". Cabotajul este utilizat în contextul "drepturilor de cabotaj", dreptul unei companii dintr-o țară de a tranzacționa într-o altă țară. Din punct de vedere al aviației, este dreptul de a funcționa în interiorul frontierelor interne ale unei alte țări. Majoritatea țărilor nu permit cabotajul aviației, din motive de protecționism economic, de securitate națională sau de siguranță publică. O excepție notabilă este Uniunea Europeană, ai cărei membri își acordă reciproc drepturi de cabotaj.
