Compasiunea este sentimentul de empatie pentru alții. Compasiunea este emoția pe care o simțim ca răspuns la suferința altora, care motivează dorința de a ne ajuta. Compasiunea este deseori privită ca având un aspect emoțional, deși, pe baza noțiunilor cerebrale, cum ar fi corectitudinea, justiția și interdependența, ea poate fi considerată rațională și aplicația ei înțeleasă ca o activitate bazată pe o judecată solidă.
