Sincopă (medicament)
Sincopul, termenul medical pentru leșin sau depășire, este definit ca o pierdere tranzitorie a conștiinței și a tonului postural, caracterizată prin debut rapid, o durată scurtă și recuperare spontană, datorită hipoperfuziei cerebrale globale, care cel mai adesea rezultă din hipotensiune. Această definiție a sincopului diferă de celelalte prin includerea cauzei inconștienței, adică hipoperfuzia cerebrală globală tranzitorie. Fără această adăugare, definiția sincopului ar include tulburări precum crizele epileptice, comoția sau accidentul cerebrovascular. Sincopul se distinge de comă, care poate include stări persistente de inconștiență. Această confuzie încă apare în unele literaturi. Multe forme de sincopă sunt precedate de o stare prodromală care adesea include amețeli și pierderea vederii, pierderea auzului, pierderea durerii și senzației, grețuri și disconfort abdominal, slăbiciune, transpirație, senzație de căldură, palpitații și alte fenomene care, dacă nu progresează până la pierderea conștiinței și tonul postural sunt deseori desemnate "presincop".
