Carne
Carnea este carne de animal care este mâncată ca mâncare. 1 Oamenii sunt omnivori și au vânat și ucis animale pentru carne din vremurile preistorice. Apariția civilizației a permis domesticirea animalelor cum ar fi puii, oile, porcii și bovinele și, eventual, utilizarea lor în producția de carne la scară industrială. Carnea este în principal compusă din apă și proteine și este de obicei consumată împreună cu alte alimente. Este comestibil brut, dar în mod normal este mâncat după ce a fost fiert și condimentat sau prelucrat într-o varietate de moduri. Carnea neprelucrată se va strica în câteva ore sau zile. Spoilarea este cauzată de infecția practic inevitabilă și de descompunerea ulterioară a cărnii de bacterii și ciuperci, care sunt suportate de animalul însuși, de către oamenii care manipulează carnea și de uneltele lor. Consumul de carne variază în întreaga lume, în funcție de preferințele culturale sau religioase, precum și de condițiile economice. Vegetarienii aleg să nu mănânce carne din cauza preocupărilor etice, economice, de mediu, religioase sau de sănătate care sunt asociate cu producția și consumul de carne.

Prima definiție a cărnii în dicționar este carnea mamiferelor folosite ca hrană, distinctă de cea a păsărilor și a peștilor. Alte definiții ale cărnii sunt orice comestibile, carne esp cu textură de carne. Carnea este, de asemenea, mâncare, spre deosebire de băutură.
