The official term corresponds to the race, category or level, that the troops have from the rank or degree of Lieutenant or Lieutenant to General, Captain General or Field Marshal, of the Armed Forces or the Security Forces of a nation; Which they acquire at the end of their studies in the respective Schools of Officers of each country, ascending by seniority or merit, whether cattle in combat or in time of peace. Los oficiales se diferencian entre sí por el grado y la posición que ocupan dentro de su escalafón jerárquico. Los oficiales tienen como tarea: guiar, dar las órdenes e instruir al personal de base o tropa; son militares, pertenecientes al Ejército, la Armada, Marina de guerra, Fuerza Aérea o Policía. También existen los suboficiales, que pertenecen a su propio escalafón jerárquico, distinto al de los oficiales. El oficial tiene una formación diferente y con una posición superior al suboficial en el escalafón de mando.
