QUE SIGNIFIE ALLIED EN ANGLAIS
Alliés
Dans l'usage quotidien de l'anglais, les alliés sont des personnes, des groupes ou des états qui se sont joints à une association pour un avantage mutuel ou pour atteindre un but commun, avec ou sans accord explicite entre eux. Lorsque le terme est utilisé dans le contexte de la guerre ou de la lutte armée, ces associations peuvent également s'appeler des pouvoirs alliés, en particulier lorsqu'on parle de la Première Guerre mondiale ou de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Une alliance militaire formelle n'est pas nécessaire pour être perçue comme une allié-co-belligérance, en se battant avec quelqu'un, suffit. Selon cet usage, les alliés ne le sont pas lors de la conclusion d'un traité d'alliance mais lorsqu'ils sont frappés par la guerre. Lorsqu'il est écrit avec une «A» capitale, le mot «Alliés» désigne habituellement les pays qui se sont battus ensemble contre les puissances centrales de la Première Guerre mondiale ou ceux qui se sont battus contre les puissances de l'Axe dans la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Le terme a également été utilisé par l'armée des États-Unis pour décrire les pays qui ont aidé le Vietnam du Sud pendant la guerre du Vietnam.
