Langue de signes britannique
La langue des signes britannique est la langue des signes utilisée au Royaume-Uni et est la langue première ou privilégiée de certains sourds au Royaume-Uni; Il y a 125 000 adultes sourds au Royaume-Uni qui utilisent BSL plus environ 20 000 enfants. En 2011, 15 000 personnes, vivant en Angleterre et au Pays de Galles, se sont déclarées en utilisant BSL comme langue principale. La langue utilise l'espace et implique le mouvement des mains, du corps, du visage et de la tête. Beaucoup de milliers de personnes qui ne sont pas sourds utilisent également BSL, en entendant des proches de personnes sourdes, des interprètes de langue de signes ou à la suite d'autres contacts avec la communauté des sourds britanniques.
