From Italian, literally: almond, from Late Latin amandula.
CE ÎNSEAMNĂ MANDORLA ÎN ENGLEZĂ?
Aureolă
O aureolă sau o aureolă este strălucirea norului luminos care, în tablourile personajelor sacre, înconjoară întreaga figură. În cele mai timpurii perioade ale artei creștine a fost limitată la figurile persoanelor divinității creștine, dar ulterior a fost extinsă la Fecioara Maria și la mai mulți sfinți. Aureola, atunci când înconjoară întregul corp, apare, în general, în formă ovală sau eliptică, dar uneori descrisă ca circulară, vesica piscis sau quatrefoil. Când apare doar ca un disc luminos în jurul capului, el este numit în mod specific un halo sau nimbus, în timp ce combinația dintre nimbus și aureole se numește glorie. Distincția strictă dintre nimbus și aureol nu este menținută în mod obișnuit, iar ultimul termen este folosit cel mai frecvent pentru a denumi luminozitatea din jurul capetelor sfinților, îngeri sau Persoane ale Trinității. Acest lucru nu trebuie confundat cu motivul specific din arta copilului Isus care pare să fie o sursă de lumină în scena Nașterii.
