Catâr
Un catâr este descendentul unui măgar mascul și al unui cal feminin. Cai și măgari sunt specii diferite, cu numere diferite de cromozomi. Dintre cei doi hibrizi F1 dintre aceste două specii, un catâr este mai ușor de obținut decât un hinny. Dimensiunea unui măgar și a muncii la care este pus este în mare măsură dependentă de creșterea barajului măcelului. Mulele pot fi ușoare, cu o greutate medie sau chiar, atunci când sunt produse de ieșiri de cai, cu o greutate moderată. Sa afirmat că mușchii sunt "mai răbdători, mai siguri, mai rezistenți și mai îndelungați decât caii, și sunt considerați mai puțin încăpățânați, mai rapizi și mai inteligenți decât măgarii".
