A hostess is a woman employed for the care of guests at travel agencies or airlines or major events, from which adequate forms of treatment, as a rule foreign language skills and usually also a pleasing appearance are required. In Germany, most of the hostesses are mostly taught by special agencies, which are usually located in the leading exhibition cities. Eine Hostess ist eine zur Betreuung von Gästen bei Reise- oder Fluggesellschaften bzw. Großveranstaltungen angestellte Frau, von der adäquate Umgangsformen, in der Regel Fremdsprachenkenntnisse und meist auch ein ansprechendes Erscheinungsbild verlangt werden. In Deutschland werden die meisten Hostessen zumeist von speziellen Agenturen, die in der Regel auch in den führenden Messestädten ihren Geschäftssitz haben, vermittelt.
