Fresco

A fresco is a painting done on a surface covered with two layers of lime mortar, the first of thickest, with lime slaked, river sand and water, and the second finest formed by marble powder, slaked lime and water, On which the pigments are applied, when the latter layer is still wet, and for days, hence its name. In this art highlights the decorations of the Sistine Chapel made by Michelangelo Buonarroti. The fresco is executed in working hours of 8 hours, as the lime in a period of 24 hours begins its drying process and does not allow more pigments. For this reason some finishes were made in dry, tempered, that is to say, agglutinated with glue. This technique is known as dry fresh.
