WHAT DOES INTERTRIGO MEAN IN SPANISH?
Intertrigo
The intertrigo or interérgo. Is a dermatosis or disease of the folds of the skin, caused basically by friction or repeated mutual friction of the opposing surfaces, more humidity and the infection overexploited by bacteria, yeasts or fungi, the most common of which is due to infection by Candida albicans. It is the most common form of traumatic erythema. It is manifested by a maceration of the skin with fissures, exudate, rash and redness of the affected areas with burning or pruritus. It is a common complication in children and in patients with obesity, with breast hypertrophy or with urinary incontinence, and the areas most affected are the inguinocrural region, the submammary, the armpits and the interdigital folds. Treatment is basically aimed at avoiding etiological factors, ie, rubbing and moisture, as well as the use of an antimicrobial drug according to the infectious agent involved.
