llave

Key

Llave

A key is an instrument used to open and close locks built into objects intended to be protected from unwanted access. Mechanisms of this type have been used since ancient times. His invention is attributed to Theodore of Samos in the 7th century BC. Although they were probably used much earlier. There is a belief that the first locks were large metal boxes that needed to open very large and heavy iron keys, which is only partially true, because small keys were also used to cover small boxes such as jewelers or other furniture. Certainly there was a certain relationship between the importance of the door and the size of the key. However, during the twentieth century there has been a very important evolution in the design of new door locking systems that has given rise to a wide range of keys. Most of the classic keys are metallic, and are used to open the lock by inserting it into it and turning.
