Préjudice

Le préjugé préjuge ou fait l'objet d'une opinion avant de prendre connaissance des faits pertinents d'une affaire. Le mot est souvent utilisé pour se référer à des jugements préconçus, généralement défavorables, à l'égard des personnes ou d'une personne en raison du genre, de l'opinion politique, de la classe sociale, de l'âge, du handicap, de la religion, de la sexualité, de la race ou de l'origine ethnique, de la langue, de la nationalité ou d'autres caractéristiques personnelles. Dans ce cas, il s'agit d'une évaluation positive ou négative d'une autre personne en fonction de son appartenance à un groupe perçu. Le préjugé peut également se référer à des croyances non fondées et peut inclure «toute attitude déraisonnable qui est exceptionnellement résistante à l'influence rationnelle». Gordon Allport a défini le préjugé comme un «sentiment, favorable ou défavorable, à l'égard d'une personne ou d'une chose, avant ou non sur la base d'une expérience réelle».
