Humère - Dans l'Église catholique, un châle blanc et allongé est un élément de la robe liturgique, couvrant le cou et les épaules portant l'albacross, attaché sur la poitrine. Humerał pochodzi od starożytnej chusty noszonej przez ludzi przynależących do wyższych warstw społecznych. Od IX w. pełni funkcję szaty liturgicznej - pierwotnie funkcję taką uzyskał we Frankonii. Obecnie jest coraz rzadziej używany, choć w niektórych obrządkach może być wymagany. Czysto praktycznym powodem noszenia humerału jest ochrona alby przed potem. Bardzo często zakłada się go dla ukrycia stroju świeckiego, który nie powinien być widoczny. Niektórzy zakonnicy zakładają nieco większy humerał na swój kaptur, tak aby nie był on widoczny. Dawniej humerałem kapłan osłaniał całą głowę oprócz twarzy, na znak, że powinien się chronić od wszelkich wrażeń, które sprowadzają roztargnienie.
