Baladă
O baladă este o formă de versuri, adesea o narațiune pusă pe muzică. Baladele provin din balada sau balada medievală chanson franceză, care inițial au fost "cântece de dans". Baladele au fost deosebit de caracteristice pentru poezia populară și cântecul insulelor britanice din perioada medievală târzie până în secolul al XIX-lea și au fost utilizate pe scară largă în Europa și mai târziu în America, Australia și Africa de Nord. Multe balade au fost scrise și vândute ca o singură foaie. Forma a fost adesea folosită de poeți și compozitori din secolul al XVIII-lea pentru a produce balade lirice.
