Este un termen umbrelă care se referă la evenimentele trecute, precum și la descoperirea, colectarea, organizarea și prezentarea informațiilor despre aceste evenimente. Termenul include istoria cosmică, geologică și organică, dar este adesea generalizată pentru a însemna istoria umană. Cercetătorii care scriu despre istorie sunt numiți istorici. Evenimentele care au loc înainte de înregistrarea scrisă sunt considerate preistorice. Istoria se poate referi, de asemenea, la disciplina academică care folosește o narațiune pentru a examina și analiza o secvență de evenimente trecute și pentru a determina în mod obiectiv modelele cauzei și efectului care le determină. All of the candy corn that was ever made was made in 1911. And so, since nobody eats that stuff, every year there's a ton of it left over.
