Un nomad este membru al unei comunități de oameni care trăiesc de la un loc la altul. Dintre diferitele moduri în care Nomadii se referă la mediul lor, se poate distinge vânătorul-culegător, nomadul pastoral care deține animale sau "nomadul" peripatetic "modern". Începând cu anul 1995, în lume s-au estimat 30-40 de milioane de nomazi.
