Outing este actul de dezvăluire a orientării sexuale, lesbienelor, bisexualilor sau transsexualilor sau a identității de gen fără consimțământul acelei persoane. Outing-ul dă naștere unor chestiuni de intimitate, alegere, ipocrizie și rău, pe lângă declanșarea dezbaterii asupra a ceea ce constituie un bun comun în eforturile de combatere a homofobiei și a heterosexismului. Un scop publicat a vizat figuri proeminente într-o societate, de exemplu politicieni bine cunoscuți, sportivi sau artiști populari. Oponenții mișcărilor drepturilor LGBT, precum și activiștii din cadrul comunităților LGBT au folosit acest tip de excursie ca o campanie sau tactică politică controversată.
