Vocea umană
Vocea constă în sunetul făcut de o ființă umană care folosește fold-urile vocale pentru a vorbi, a citi, a cânta, a râde, a plânge, a țipa etc. Vocea umană este în mod special o parte din producția de sunet uman, în care faldurile vocale sunt sursa primară de sunet. În general, mecanismul de generare a vocii umane poate fi împărțit în trei părți; plămânii, faldurile vocale din larynx și articulatorii. Plămânul trebuie să producă fluxul adecvat de aer și presiunea aerului pentru a vibra pliurile vocale. Plițele vocale sunt o supapă vibrată care alimentează fluxul de aer din plămâni în impulsuri auditive care formează sursa de sunet laringian. Mușchii laringelui ajustează lungimea și tensiunea vocalelor până la pitch și ton. Articulațiile articulează și filtrează sunetul provenit din laringe și, într-o oarecare măsură, pot interacționa cu fluxul de aer laringian pentru a-l întări sau a-l slăbi ca sursă de sunet.
