Vânt
Vântul este fluxul de gaze pe scară largă. Pe suprafața Pământului, vântul constă în mișcarea în vrac a aerului. În spațiul cosmic, vântul solar este mișcarea gazelor sau a particulelor încărcate de la soare prin spațiu, în timp ce vântul planetar este o ieșire a elementelor chimice ușoare din atmosfera unei planete în spațiu. Vânturile sunt în mod obișnuit clasificate după scara spațială, viteza lor, tipurile de forțe care le determină, regiunile în care acestea apar și efectul lor. Cele mai puternice vânturi observate de pe o planetă din sistemul nostru solar apar pe Neptun și Saturn. Vânturile au un aspect diferit, un aspect important fiind viteza sa; o altă densitate a gazului implicat; altul este conținutul energetic sau energia eoliană a vântului. În meteorologie, vânturile sunt deseori menționate în funcție de forța lor și de direcția de la care suflă vântul. Exploziile scurte de vânt de mare viteză se numesc rafale. Vânturile puternice de durată medie sunt denumite vânturi. Vânturile cu durată lungă au numeroase denumiri asociate cu forța medie, cum ar fi briza, vântura, furtuna, uraganul și taifunul.
