Un pilot este o navă folosită de ofițerul comandant al unui grup de nave navale, care reflectă obiceiul comandantului său, în mod caracteristic un ofițer de pavilion, care arborează un drapel distinctiv. Folosit mai slab, este o navă de plumb într-o flotă de nave, de obicei primul, cel mai mare, cel mai rapid, cel mai puternic armat sau cel mai bine cunoscut.
