Secularizare
Secularizarea sau secularizarea este transformarea unei societăți de la identificarea strânsă cu valorile și instituțiile religioase la valorile nonreligioase și la instituțiile seculare. Teza secularizării se referă la convingerea că, pe măsură ce societățile progresează, în special prin modernizare și raționalizare, religia își pierde autoritatea în toate aspectele vieții și guvernării sociale. Termenul secularizare este de asemenea folosit în contextul ridicării restricțiilor monahale de la un membru al clerului. Secularizarea are multe nivele de semnificație, atât ca o teorie, cât și ca un proces istoric. Teoreticienii sociali precum Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud, Max Weber și Émile Durkheim au afirmat că modernizarea societății ar include o scădere a nivelurilor de religiozitate. Studiul acestui proces încearcă să determine modul în care, sau măsura în care crezurile, practicile și instituțiile religioase pierd importanță socială. Unii teoreticieni susțin că secularizarea civilizației moderne rezultă parțial din incapacitatea noastră de a adapta nevoile etice și spirituale ale omenirii la avansarea din ce în ce mai rapidă a științelor fizice.
Definiția secularize în dicționarul Engleză
Prima definiție a secularizării în dicționar este schimbarea de la funcțiile religioase sau sacre la cele seculare, etc. O altă definiție a secularizării este aceea de a renunța la loialitatea față de o ordine religioasă. Secularize este, de asemenea, să se transfere de la posesia sau folosirea eclesiastică la civilă.
