O încercare este o modalitate de a puncta puncte în sindicală de rugby și fotbal de rugby liga. O încercare este marcată prin împământarea mingii în zona de poartă a opoziției. Sindicatul și liga de rugby se deosebesc ușor de definirea zonei de "împământare a mingii" și a "țintă". În legile ambelor coduri de rugby, termenul touch down se referă în mod formal numai la împământarea mingii de către echipa defensivă în scopul lor. Deși, ocazional, oamenii se referă la o încercare ca o "atingere", utilizarea corectă a acțiunii este "împământarea mingii".
