Apertura

In optics, aperture is a hole or perforation through which light passes. More specifically, the aperture of an optical system is that which determines the cone angle of a beam of light that is focused on the image plane. In photography, the magnitude of the aperture is controlled by the diaphragm, which is a structure interposed in the path of light to regulate the amount of this admitted in the system. In combination with the shutter speed, the aperture size adjusts the degree of exposure to film or sensor light, thus determining the Exposure Value.
