Short film

Cortometraje

A short film is an audiovisual or film production that lasts less than 30 minutes. The genres of the short films cover the same types as those of the longest productions, but because of their lower cost they are usually used to deal with less commercial subjects or in which the author has total creative freedom. Many young creators use these to take their first steps in the film industry and many established filmmakers today began with surprising shorts that drove them to fame. Probably one of the most famous short films in history is An Andalusian dog, written and directed by two young people who had not yet achieved fame: Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí. At present, the cheapening of new digital technologies and their approach to amateur production, has meant a revolution in the world of short film, in which the young filmmakers can begin by avoiding the great expenses that until now supposed the realization of these works .
