A habit is a habit or tendency acquired by the frequent practice of an act. The customs of people are the set of inclinations and uses that form their distinctive national character. A custom is a particular form of behavior that assumes an entire community and distinguishes it from other communities; For example: their dances, their parties, their meals, their language or their crafts. These customs are transmitted from one generation to another, whether in the form of oral tradition or representative. Over time, these customs become traditions. It is generally distinguished from those with social approval, and those considered "bad habits", which are relatively common but do not have social approval, and laws are often enacted to try to change customs. Una costumbre es un hábito o tendencia adquirido por la práctica frecuente de un acto. Las costumbres de las personas son el conjunto de inclinaciones y de usos que forman su carácter nacional distintivo. Una costumbre es una forma de comportamiento particular que asume toda una comunidad y que la distingue de otras comunidades; por ejemplo: sus danzas, sus fiestas, sus comidas, su idioma o su artesanía. Estas costumbres se van transmitiendo de una generación a otra, ya sea en forma de tradición oral o representativa. Con el tiempo, estas costumbres se convierte en tradiciones. Generalmente se distingue entre las que cuentan con aprobación social, y las consideradas "malas costumbres", que son relativamente comunes pero que no cuentan con la aprobación social, y suelen promulgarse leyes para tratar de modificar las costumbres.

Another customary meaning in the dictionary is that which, by character or propensity, is most commonly made. Custom is also menstruous or rule of women.
