Beligerant
Un beligerant este un individ, grup, țară sau altă entitate care acționează într-o manieră ostilă, cum ar fi angajarea în luptă. Belligerent vine din latină, adică înseamnă "cel care duce război". Spre deosebire de folosirea beligerantului ca adjectiv, înseamnă a fi agresiv, utilizarea lui ca substantiv nu implică neapărat că o țară beligerantă este agresor. În vremuri de război, țările beligerante pot fi contraste cu țările neutre și cu cele ne-beligerante. Cu toate acestea, aplicarea legilor războiului în țările neutre și responsabilitățile beligeranților nu sunt afectate de nicio distincție între țările neutre, puterile neutre sau cele nebeligene.
