Considerare
Considerarea este conceptul de valoare juridică în legătură cu contractele. Este ceva de valoare promis altui cand face un contract. Poate lua forma de bani, obiecte fizice, servicii, acțiuni promise, abstinență de la o acțiune viitoare și multe altele. Considerația de a crea un contract care să poată fi executată din punct de vedere juridic implică o neglijare legală pentru partea promisă sau un avantaj juridic pentru promisor. Conform noțiunii "îndatoriri preexistente", dacă promitoarea sau promisul avea deja o obligație legală de a efectua o astfel de plată, aceasta nu poate fi privită ca o considerație în sensul juridic. În dreptul comun, este o condiție prealabilă ca ambele părți să acorde o atenție deosebită înainte ca un contract să poată fi considerat ca fiind obligatoriu. Doctrina considerării este irelevantă în multe jurisdicții, deși relațiile comerciale litigioase contemporane au avut relația dintre o promisiune și o faptă este o reflectare a naturii considerentelor contractuale.
