Dipsacus
Dipsacus este un gen de plante înfloritoare în familia Dipsacaceae. Membrii acestui gen sunt cunoscuți ca teasel sau teazel sau teazle. Genul include aproximativ 15 specii de plante bienale erbacee înalte (plante perene rareori de scurtă durată) care cresc la 1-2,5 metri (3,3-8,2 ft) înălțime. Dipsacus este originar din Europa, Asia și Africa de Nord. Numele genului este derivat din cuvântul "sete" și se referă la formarea în formă de cupă făcută în cazul în care frunzele sessile se îmbină la tulpină. Apa de ploaie poate fi colectată în acest recipient; acest lucru poate îndeplini funcția de prevenire a insectelor care aspiră sapa, cum ar fi afidele care urcă pe tulpină. Un experiment recent a arătat că adăugarea insectelor moarte la aceste cupe mărește numărul de semințe de teaseluri (dar nu înălțimea lor), implicând carnivore parțiale. Forma frunzei este lanceolate, de 20-40 centimetri (7,9-15,7 in) lungime și 3-6 centimetri (1,2-2,4 inchi) lată, cu un șir de coloane mici pe partea inferioară a midribului.
